MLB analyst advises reserving judgment on Anthony Volpe's big league step-up till the end of spring training
Analyst Rubén Amaro Jr. refused to rush to a decision about Anthony Volpe's major league prospects despite his impressive spring training debut with the New York Yankees.
Anthony's performance at Yankees spring training is turning heads with a home run against the Pittsburgh Pirates followed by a double against the Tampa Bay Rays. Additionally, he is vying with Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswald Peraza for the starting shortstop position, and ideally, his strong start will improve his prospects.
Fans and analysts alike were blown away by his energy and potential, with some even declaring him the "next big thing" in baseball. However, MLB analyst Rubén Amaro Jr. is urging to wait until the last 10 days of spring training to see if he can handle the pressure and be the starting shortstop for the Yankees.
"Anthony Volpe is terrific to watch in Bronx Bombers. This guy is the next big thing. Why wait till June or July?" asked analyst Adnan Virk on MLB Network's Spring Training Sprint.
Analyst Rubén put forward his opinion saying:
"You gotta pump the breaks. It is early in the spring now. I love the guy's energy but you got to wait till the last 10 days of spring training to see if he is really able to handle that situation and be the shortstop for the Yankees. That's no small task."

In September, Anthony was promoted from the Yankees' Double-A affiliate to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Hence, despite a good showing in Grapefruit League games, the 21-year-lack old's lack of Triple-A experience may play a role in the Yankees' final selection.
Manager Aaron Boone is not surprised with Anthony Volpe's performance
Interestingly, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone always had high expectations from the team's top prospect Anthony Volpe and is not taken aback by Volpe's noteworthy performance in spring training.
“He’s a good player. I can’t say I’m surprised, because I think we all expected him to handle it all well. Just a good player that loves the game that’s into the game that’s into all the little things about the game," said Boone.

Anthony has previously expressed ecstasy to play with Yankees teammates. He is currently looking forward to going on the field and resuming playing against other teams.
It remains to be seen if Volpe will make the major league roster, but one thing is for sure: the excitement and anticipation surrounding this young prospect is palpable.
