MLB analyst counters New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman's latest comments on just missing out on WS in 2022
Business-wise, Brian Cashman, the general manager of the New York Yankees, had a great offseason as he was able to assemble a group capable of contending for the American League Championship consistently.
The Yankees re-signed Aaron Judge, signed Carlos Rodon, and extended Anthony Rizzo's stay in the Bronx. Cashman should be applauded for his amazing endeavors to make all this possible.
Recently, Brian Cashman joined MLB radio talk show hosts to discuss the Yankees' future plans and contemplate their performances over the last decade.
"It felt like the way our fanbase reacted, we got knocked out in the first round...The reality was we had a hell of another run at it," Brian Cashman said via WFAN660.
Many MLB pundits and devoted Yankees fans quickly refuted his remarks in light of the baseball team's inability to advance through the ALCS. The fans' disappointment also stems from their extended drought in the World Series, which has lasted more than 10 years,
Ben Verlander took no time to debunk and counter Brian Cashman's comments. He said it was a major low for the GM of a ballclub with such a rich history in the sport to come out and say absolutely strange things to discredit the fan base.
"I remember when the New York Yankees were the New York Yankees and it was World Series or bust," BenVerlander said via FlippinBatsPod.
MLB analysts have argued that for a team like the Yankees, reaching the ALCS or even the World Series is insufficient, given the franchise's rich heritage and talent. The GM should be more outspoken in order to positively influence the fan base and re-establish their trust rather than questioning their actions.
The New York Yankees need to win a World Series soon
The Yankees have made 40 appearances in the Fall Classic and won 27 World Series championships. For New York, a successful season is defined by a title. The "Bronx Bombers" have won 30 consecutive games and have only missed the playoffs four times since 1995.
However, they haven't had a chance to contend for their 28th championship since winning it all in 2009. The Yankees last won the American League championship 13 years ago. It is the franchise's third-longest drought in its history.
"The Yankees longest World Series drought is 14 seasons, '82-'95. They are at 13 seasons and the it seems like they'll be worse next year than they are this year. But hey, at least they can tout their pre-prohibition titles and an AL MVP" - CopierCollin
Yankee nation will yet again take to the stands this season with hope in their eyes and a prayer in their hearts to see the "Bronx Bombers" go the distance under the captaincy of Aaron Judge.
