MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson Day with every team in action on Tuesday
Every April 15, MLB comes together to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day — the day Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier, proving that Negro League players had the talent to compete at the highest level.
Every year, all players who take the field sport Robinson's No. 42, and managers and umpires have the number on a patch on their hats. Fans will see plenty of No. 42 on Tuesday, with all 30 teams in action to honor the all-time great.
Four games are scheduled to begin at 6:40 p.m. ET. One marquee matchup is between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies. Justin Verlander is set to get the start against Jesus Luzardo.
Another hot game on the board for Jackie Robinson Day is between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees. It could be a pitcher's duel, with Michael Wacha going up against Max Fried.
Later in the evening, two of the sport's hottest teams will square off in the second of their three-game series. The Chicago Cubs will look to avenge their Monday night loss against the San Diego Padres with Shota Imanaga on the bump.
The LA Dodgers cap off Jackie Robinson Day against the Colorado Rockies

Jackie Robinson Day wraps up with a night game between the Colorado Rockies and the LA Dodgers. Before the game, the two clubs will participate in a pregame reflection at the Jackie Robinson statue, where Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is expected to speak.
The Dodgers have gathered at the statue each April 15 since 2021. In 2023, they began inviting their opponents to join the ceremony as part of a shared tribute.
When the game begins, Ryan Feltner will try and stop the Dodgers' hot bats. He will face Landon Knack, who is looking to calm down his ERA after struggling against the Washington Nationals last week.
There’s no shortage of baseball being played Tuesday. In addition to the MLB slate, several minor league and college baseball games are also commemorating Jackie Robinson Day. There’s something for every fan to enjoy on this special day in baseball history.
