MLB fans bid emotional adieu to Sergio Romo as 3-time World Series winner calls time on his playing career: "There’s no crying in Baseball"

Veteran MLB pitcher Sergio Romo's final goodbye was just as he envisioned as he retired from the San Francisco Giant on Monday night, after calling it quits on his long and arduous baseball career.

Romo signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on the March 16 earlier this year solely with the intention of hanging up his boots after pitching for the Giants one final time!

That dream was fulfilled on Monday night when Romo pitched in the 7th innings at Oracle Park in the exhibition finals for both clubs.

"Very fitting to find some closure in what literally is for me was a storybook career," Romo said post his team's 12-6 loss to the Athletics. What an experience,” he concluded.

Romo won an astounding three World Series titles during his successful nine-year stint with the San Francisco Giants. Romo's 515 games pitched with the team ranked fifth all-time, while his 84 saves ranked seventh.

Major League Baseball fans bid an emotional goodbye to the stylish right-hander on Twitter, reminiscing about the good times.

Truly, Romo was special in more ways than one. He left an imprint everywhere he went, and all the teams he's ever played for are the better for it.

Sergio Romo was an All-Star in 2013

Sergio Romo was drafted in the 28th round of the 2005 draft, and he made his MLB debut with them in June 2008. Since leaving San Francisco as a free agent in 2016, Romo has gone on to play for the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays.

Romo earned his only All-Star appearance in 2013 when he set a career-high with 38 saves. He also won helped the Giants win every-other-year titles in 2010, ’12, and ’14.
