MLB fans react to Diamondbacks roasting Phillies during NLCS celebrations: "They should've played dancing on my own"
The Arizona Diamondbacks had some fun at the expense of the Philadelphia Phillies after they won game 7 of the NL Championship Series. The Dbacks snatched the NL pennant from the defending NL champions after a gritty 4-2 win.
A winner-take-all win justified a few celebrations on the pitch after they were handed over the NL pennant. Infact, the celebrations didn't stop there and spilled over later into the Citizens Bank Park clubhouse.
Dbacks slugger Alek Thomas was seen planting the NL Championship flag on the ground. The 23-year-old had hit a clutch home run in game 4 of the series when his team was trailing Philadelphia.
Back in the clubhouse, the entire Arizona roster and staff enjoyed rapper Meek Mill's song "Dreams and Nightmares". Mill is a Philadelphia-born musician who has visited Phillies games in the past. He performed a version of the same song in a home fixture during the World Series last season against the Houston Astros.
Arizona's MVP for the NLCS Ketel Marte was seen grooving to the beats of the song. Marte proceeded with an Instagram live after the game where he showed off their celebrations. Teammate Tommy Pham joined him in the video later.
Baseball fans found it hilarious as they took to X to voice their reactions.
Arizona Diamondbacks composure helped them mount a comeback
No one quite expected a Wild Card with an 84-win season to defy all odds to make it to the World Series. But the Diamondbacks did exactly that. The mantra behind their success has been credited to their calm attitude as per manager Torey Lovullo. After their game 6 win, he spoke at length about the team's 'preparations'.
"They’re on their phones, checking what they want to check,” Lovullo said. “There’s different conversations, groups of two or three. They’re in the food room eating their Philly cheesesteaks. A couple guys are playing games. So it’s very typical.”
The Dbacks are four wins away from scripting one of the best season victories in recent history. They will be up against a resilient Texas Rangers side who mounted a comeback of their own.
