MLB fans ridicule the Dodgers for their first loss of the MLB season against the Arizona Diamondbacks: "Wasted that great outing by May smh"
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their first game of the season as the Arizona Diamondbacks came from behind to take a 2-1 win. The Diamondbacks won on the back of a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning by Kyle Lewis.
Mookie Betts started for Los Angeles. He scored a solo home run in the seventh inning. The D-backs countered immediately in the eighth inning with a double by Evan Longoria before Lewis' 383-foot bomb, his first career pinch-hit homer.
The Boys in Blue were directly given the chance to go ahead with a walk and a base stolen by Miguel Vargas before James Outman also drew a walk. But Miguel Rojas was unable to capitalize on the chance with an out on a flyball to Nick Ahmed. More chances came to Los Angeles with a Mookie Betts leadoff walk; however, that wasn't converted as the game ended in favor of the D-backs.
Fans on social media were quick to troll Los Angeles about their loss.
Fans brutally mocked Alex Vesia, whose eighth innings allowed the go-ahead home run for Arizona.
Dustin May's performance at the start was also noted by the club's fan base, as they congratulated him for scattering three hits in six-plus innings. He struck out four and walked one in his season debut.
Los Angeles Dodgers to complete a 4-game series against the Diamondbacks
The opening series of the season for the Dodgers will fold with two more games against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. This will be followed by a two-game home series against the Rockies before Los Angeles will move to Arizona to a play a four-game series on the road.
