MLB injury update today: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Max Muncy and more stars on the road to recovery - June 16
Among the several MLB stars who have been injured, some can see brighter days ahead. Many of them received positive updates recently. At the very least, everyone is or can now begin progressing through recovery. Then, they can get back on the field and help their teams win. Here are the latest updates on June 16.
MLB injury updates for June 16
Yoshinobu Yamamoto
Yoshinobu Yamamoto got some bad news for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had to be removed from his start on Saturday after just two innings. The promising rookie is unfortunately heading to the injured list, likely for at least 15 days. He mentioned feeling tightness in his triceps earlier in the week.
Max Muncy
The injury updates didn't end there for the Dodgers. Max Muncy has been out of action for a few weeks and hasn't swung a bat during that time. The latest update is that he's still not close to a return. He has, however, been able to run, throw and field the baseball.
Jasson Dominguez
The return of Jasson Dominguez has hit a snag. The New York Yankees outfielder and top prospect was working his way back from Tommy John surgery, hitting well in AAA. However, he landed on the seven-day IL for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders.
Joe Musgrove
San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove has been dealing with a bone spur in his elbow. He still has no timetable for a return, but manager Mike Shildt believes the pitcher is "close" to being able to pick up a baseball. That's the first major step in recovery.
Tommy Edman
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Tommy Edman is slated to join the Cardinals' Complex League team or their Single-A affiliate in Palm Beach this week. The goal is to get Edman live at-bats and reps in the field as he continues to work toward a return to the major leagues.
Bo Bichette
Toronto Blue Jays infielder and former All-Star Bo Bichette has been dealing with a calf strain and will miss his second consecutive start on Sunday, June 16. He doesn't appear headed for an IL stint, but he's unable to play.
Yu Darvish
The San Diego Padres got another positive update on their rotation. Yu Darvish has successfully completed a bullpen session. The pitcher hasn't been on the field since June 4, but he completed his first bullpen session and is planning to continue his rehab.
Henry Davis
The former top selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Henry Davis, is going on the seven-day injured list. The catcher has been diagnosed with a concussion and will be out for at least one week.
