MLB insider predicts potential destinations for Scott Boras clients Pete Alonso and Corbin Burnes

Amongst the many names that have been locked in for the 2025 MLB season, two players are yet to be scooped up — Pete Alonso and Corbin Burnes.

Coincidentally, both players are represented by baseball super agent Scott Boras. The agent has been known to negotiate big-money deals for his clients, so it would be surprising to see if either Alonso or Burnes settle for less just to be signed by a team.

In a recent interview on "MLB Network", insider Mark Feinsand sounded off on possible destinations for Alonso and Burnes.

Feinsand said that the prospect of Pete Alonso signing with several clubs has dramatically dwindled. This is due to the recent developments in the market like the New York Yankees' acquisition of Paul Goldschmidt and the Houston Astros' signing of Christian Walker.

"Alonso's market has shrunk considerably. ...However, the [Seattle] Mariners are still a possibility," Feinsand said.

The insider, however, noted that Seattle might have to move some pieces including starter Luis Castillo to make room for Alonso's hefty deal. He then proceeded to rumble opinions of agents and pundits that the star first baseman might actually just re-sign with the New York Mets.

"Agents and experts around the league think Pete Alonso will come back to the Mets. I think that's were he'e probably headed. The question is what does the deal look like. ...The Mets certainly seem like the most logical landing spot," he added.

Corbin Burnes looking for "Strasburg-like" MLB contract

MLB insider Mark Feinsand also spoke about Scott Boras' other client, Corbin Burnes, adding that he is seeking a deal close to that of former Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg.

"Corbin Burnes is looking for a deal similar to Stephen Strasburg," Feinsand said.

Feinsand was pertaining to Strasburg's seven-year, $245 million deal with the Nationals after the latter opted out of the original five-year, $175 million contract after just three seasons.

The baseball journalist also said both the San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays are discussing terms with Burnes about a possible move.

"The [San Francisco] Giants had an offer but they have yet to agree to the amount. The Blue Jays have also expressed interest in Burnes," he added.
