MLB The Show streamer states his choice for the face of baseball's next big game: Ronald Acuna Jr.
When Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. tore his ACL in July 2021, many wondered if the exciting young stud would ever be able to regain his footing in the league.
At that point, the Venezuelan outfielder had already led the MLB in runs, stolen bases and captured the Rookie of the Year Award. At the time of his injury, he was on pace to have his best offensive season to date.
However, rigorous rehab throughout 2021 and 2022 paved the way for Ronald Acuna Jr. to burst back into the MLB in April 2022, just over nine months after he sustained the significant injury. Acuna Jr. proved to the league why he is still one of the best. The 25-year-old hit .266/.351/.413 with 50 RBIs and 29 stolen bases.
So far in 2023, he has been a godsend for the Atlanta Braves, and is leading the league in runs, hits, stolen bases and OPS at the time of this writing.
In a recent Twitter post, a popular Twitch streamer, YourFriendKyle endorsed Acuna Jr. to be the cover athlete of MLB The Show 24. It is an overwhelmingly popular video game that allows players to play as their favourite players and teams using very realistic simulation effects.

Traditionally, players who are chosen to be cover athletes epitomize the whos who of the baseball world. In 2023, Miami Marlins sensation Jazz Chisholm Jr. was the cover athlete.
Ronald Acuna Jr. is known for his on-field personality and sometimes-provocative antics. He recently danced across home plate after hitting a homerun in a move that drew as much criticism as praise and interest from fans around the league.
Ronald Acuna Jr. is a perfect pick for the cover athlete
Being an MLB The Show cover athlete is not a feat that any player can attain. To be selected, a player must be as exciting as he is skilled, and be beloved by fans. The larger-than-life nature of the video games cover athletes began with then-Boston Red Sox icon David Ortiz in 2006, Should Acuna Jr. be selected, the game will be keeping in line with tradition.
