MLB Trade Rumors: Mets interested in White Sox starter following Kodai Senga's injury, per insider

The New York Mets are reportedly interested in the Chicago White Sox starter Erick Fedde. The team is facing a starter crisis after Kodai Senga's injury. However, the Mets might face tough competition for the pitcher as other teams are also interested in acquiring his services.

Senga was out for the first four months of the 2024 regular season due to the right shoulder capsular strain he suffered in spring training. However, he made his season debut last Friday against the Atlanta Braves. He had nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings, conceding just two earned runs and two hits.

However, his return to the action lasted for 73 pitches as he left the game with a high-grade left calf strain. Later, the Mets put him on 15-day IL. Manager Carlos Mendoza announced that the pitcher might be gone for the rest of the regular season.

According to insider Joel Sherman, with Senga seemingly missing the rest of the regular season, the Mets might look for reinforcements for starting pitching to help it compete for the postseason spot.

"The Mets have called on Erick Fedde, who flamed out with the Nationals after being a first-round selection," Sherman wrote (via the New York Post).

Fedde joined the White Sox on a two-year, $15 million deal in December. So far, he has been in good form and has made 20 starts for the organization. He has a 7-4 record, an ERA of 3.11, a WHIP of 1.14 and 108 strikeouts.

Mets sign OF Jesse Winker from the Nationals

The New York Mets have acquired outfielder Jesse Winker from the Washington Nationals in exchange for its minor-league pitcher Tyler Stuart.

Winker joined the Nats on a $2 million minor league contract this offseason. Later in March, the team selected his contract. In 101 games for the Washington, he has slashed .257/.374/.419, along with 11 home runs, 45 RBI and 14 stolen bases.
