MLB Trade Update: Dodgers acquire Jack Flaherty from Tigers at the end of deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been tied to Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty for weeks. He was one of the top-rated pitchers thought to be on the move, and on the move he was.

With just minutes left before the trade deadline expired, the Blue Crew got their man. They acquired Flaherty in exchange for catcher Thayron Liranzo and middle infielder Trey Sweeney.

Flaherty should instantly boost the Blue Crew's starting rotation with how he has pitched this season. He has started 18 games, compiling a 7-5 record with a 2.95 ERA on 106.2 innings of work.

This is also a pretty good return for Detroit. While not expecting to contend this season, they got back LA's No. 3 and No. 28 ranked prospects for a rental.

The Dodgers were a very busy team, especially over the last few days. They have made a flurry of moves to try and improve for the second half of the season.

LA was involved in a three-team trade with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox. They received Tommy Edman and Michael Kopech, adding a bat and an arm to the bullpen.

Edman is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but could join the club within the week. Kopech is a name that could certainly boost the club's bullpen, and a change of scenery might be just what he needs to really get it going.

LA also acquired shortstop Amed Rosario from the Tampa Bay Rays. This will now be his second stint with the team.

To cap it off, LA acquired Jack Flaherty, to add to an already overwhelming rotation. When some pitchers return, this could be one scary stable of arms.
