Mookie Betts' wife Brianna celebrates Dodgers superstar's return to the diamond after two-month injury stint
Brianna Betts celebrated her husband Mookie Betts' return to the majors after almost a two-month hiatus. Betts suffered a fractured left hand while playing against the Kansas City Royals in mid-June.
Ahead of Monday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Dodgers activated the right-fielder from the 60-day injured list and designated Amed Rosario for assignment to take his place on the roster.
Brianna shared the news of Betts' activation on her social media as well as a post from the Dodgers' social media covering Betts. She added clapping and blue heart emojis to her stories.
Mookie Betts and Brianna met in middle school while they were still teenagers.
"Brianna has been by my side since we were teenagers," Betts told PEOPLE after their engagement. "Together we've grown mentally, physically and spiritually. She is my best friend."
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Kynlee Ivory Betts, on Nov. 6, 2018. Almost two years later, in Jan. 2021, Betts proposed to Brianna. They exchanged their vows in Dec. 2021 at an oceanside wedding at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
They welcomed their second child, son Kaj Lynn Betts, in April last year.
Mookie Betts shines in Dodgers return and contributes with three RBIs in win
Despite not taking any rehab assignments, Mookie Betts got into the action straight away. He homered in just his second plate appearance in the third inning against Freddy Peralta, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead.
Later in the seventh, he drove another run and helped his team register a 5-2 road win over the Brewers to start the four-game series.
"I felt great. It felt great You know, I miss my family at home, but I'm glad I'm out here helping Dodger Nation," Betts said in a post-game interaction. "It's just good to come to work. You know, these guys welcomed me with open arms, obviously, and it's just it's just fun to play baseball."
Not only that, Mookie Betts was back to his original position in right field after playing the entire season in the infield this year. Moreover, he hit behind Shohei Ohtani in the second spot of the batting card on Monday.
