New York Yankees fans delighted to see Carlos Beltran leave the YES broadcast team: "Worst commentator in YES history"

New York Yankees fans made no attempts to hide their relief on Twitter as soon as news broke of Carlos Beltran joining the New York Mets front office.

Beltran played for the Yankees between 2014 and 2016. He recently completed one year as an analyst with the YES broadcast team.

After hearing the news, Yankees fans on Twitter were scathing of Beltran's commentating skills and made no bones about it.

Here are some more reactions:

Nice to know that I won’t be falling asleep during games. twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
The phrase “blessing in disguise” was created for this exact scenario twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
So happy for Carlos Beltran, purely for his professional growth and definitely not because this means he won’t be broadcasting any Yankees games this season. twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
lol but I heard he was such a good commentator twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
operation “watch a Yankees game in 2023 without having my ears bleed” is off to an amazing start twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
Thank god. Have fun w the Mets twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…

Cameron Maybin's recent ouster from YES Network was also discussed, with some users asking to bring the former MLB player back to the booth.

Good, bring back Cameron twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
This is why they would’ve kept Cameron Maybin instead twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…
Not upset about this. Unlike Maybin, he wasn't good. Maybe he would've been better in the studio over time, but we can do better. See ya! 😂 twitter.com/TalkinYanks/st…
Now YES looks even more ridiculous for not extending Maybin. twitter.com/talkinyanks/st…

Twitter user @yankeejetsfan71 pretty much summed up the mood in one tweet:

One of the few times I don't mind the Mets taking something from the Yankees.. #yankees twitter.com/TalkinYanks/st…

Carlos Beltran is back with the Mets

Carlos Beltran's second innings with the New York Mets will see him join their front office. He spent seven seasons with the club from 2005 to 2011, where he secured five MLB All-Star selections.

Beltran was also hired to succeed Mickey Callaway as the new Mets manager in November 2019. However, his involvement in the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal meant his managerial dream was cut short even before it started.

"Absolutely LOVE Carlos Beltran being back with the Mets. It’s where he belongs. Would be great if the front office role eventually leads him to managing, where he deserves to be. And it would be really cool if it aligned with a natural end of Buck Showalter’s tenure" - @DannyAbriano

While Beltran's role with the Mets has not yet been disclosed, some speculate it might involve him working under GM Billy Epler as a "Special Assistant":

Carlos Beltran’s role with the Mets, per source, will be Special Assistant to GM Billy Eppler.

It has been a great week for Mets fans, with the addition of a famous Puerto Rican to their fanbase and now with the news of their club hero's return.
