New York Yankees fans excited to have Carlos Rodon as star pitcher after newly arrived ace praises fans for booing team
Carlos Rodon is already on his way to becoming a fan favorite by the time he steps on the field for the first time as a New York Yankees player.
He ticked all the right boxes with his first press conference as a Yankee as he said:
“There was just something about the Yankees. The fans here want to win. They care. They care a lot. Giants fans are invested, but not like New York. Win or lose, you’re not getting booed in San Francisco.”
Yankees fans were delighted and ensured his praise of the fans was amply reciprocated.
"Finally a player on the Yankees that isn’t soft as hell."- One user tweeted
"The booing sold Carlos Rodon on NY. I’m gonna love this guy."
"HE GETS IT"
"Buying Rodon jersey now"
"Finally someone who understands the pressure and accountability it takes in the Bronx. No running or crying, do your job. Win. He gets it. He’s HIM"
"people talk about players not wanting to come to NY cuz of potential booing and he cites it as a reason he came here lol different"
"I already like Rodon. Finally someone who isn’t soft and understands why fans boo them"
"Giants fans ain’t gonna like this lol also Rodon gets it when it comes to NY."
"Remember when everyone on the Internet said no free agents would come here because of our fans, because we boo’d our players? Remember when all the Giants fans said that? This quote is about as tough of a look as can be for those people. Never change Yankees fans. Never change."
Giants fans were not thrilled with such comments from their former player:
"My apologies for not booing Carlos Rodon when he played for the Giants, I guess?"
"So Carlos Rodon wanted to come to the Yankees because the fans love the team so much that they boo players for playing bad. That is mind-blowing."
