New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox Game Player Stats and Box Scores for September 12

On Thursday, the New York Yankees hosted their AL East rivals, the Boston Red Sox, to open a three-game series. The Bronx Bombers were coming off a huge walk-off victory against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. recording his first walk-off victory in his career.

Nestor Cortes Jr. had a decent start tonight despite several struggles in the past. Cortes had a bit of a slump but pitched well in this game, surrendering only one home run.

Cooper Criswell put in a decent performance, but Gleyber Torres got a good swing on his pitch to put his team on the board with a solo home run. The Yankees have performed well at the plate in the last few weeks and their hot-hitting streak continued.

The Red Sox fought hard as they forced the game into extra innings after tying the score at 1-1, before Juan Soto sealed the victory for the Yankees.

Boston's playoff dreams might be shattered, but it will try to win as much as possible to finish ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.

Gleyber Torres and Danny Jansen hit home runs tonight

Leadoff man Gleyber Torres did not hesitate to swing against Criswell as he launched the first homer of the game deep to right field. Torres gave the Yanks a 1-0 lead.

The Red Sox fired back at the top of the fifth inning as Danny Jansen went deep with a home run against Cortes. Jansen put a good swing on the pitch to tie the game.

Ian Hamilton did a decent job of holding the game down, while Clay Holmes prevented the Red Sox from scoring in the extra inning. Juan Soto was the hero of the day as he walked it off for the Yanks while driving in Anthony Volpe.

It was Soto's first walk-off win in pinstripes and gave the Yankees the lead over their rival in this series. It also marked the second straight walk-off game in the Bronx.
