New York Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians ALCS Game 2 Player Stats and Box Scores for October 15
The New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians continued their ALCS battle as they entered Game 2 on Tuesday. The Yanks have the advantage in this series after a stunning Game 1 victory. Aaron Boone sent their ace Gerrit Cole to the mound against the Guardians' Tanner Bibee.
Cole took to a strong start by retiring the side in the first inning. Gleyber Torres got the game moving with a base hit as he reached second base, while Juan Soto got on first base with a base hit. Judge had a high pop-up, but the Guardians had a costly error after dropping the catch, giving the Yanks a 1-0 lead.
The Yanks had runners in scoring position during the first, but Bibee did well to take out Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm Jr. Anthony Volpe, Anthony Rizzo and Alex Verdugo recorded base hits to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. Bibee was forced to exit the game after a struggling start.
The Guardians intentionally walked Soto with the bases loaded for Judge at the bottom of the second inning. The caption recorded a sac fly as they took a 3-0 lead.
Cole was caught in a jam at the top of the fourth inning. The bases were loaded twice due to Chisholm's in-field mistake. However, Cole worked in way out with four scoreless innings.
The Guardians had the bases loaded again in the top of the fifth and managed to score two runs. Cole surrendered one run and was taken off the mound as Clay Holmes stepped in.
The Yanks drove in another run to extend their lead to 4-2. Judge finally put up a show in the Bronx with a two-run blast.
