New York Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Game Player Stats and Box Scores for August 22
The Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees met on Thursday for the finale of their three-game series. It was tied at one apiece as Cleveland took the opening game in extra innings, while the Bronx Bombers took the second game on Wednesday.
This left the third and final game as the deciding factor, and with how good these two teams have looked, neither wanted to back down. However, it would be an afternoon that Cleveland fans would soon want to forget.
Cleveland could not get to Gettir Cole, who pitched a gem. He went six strong innings, giving up zero runs on just one hit while striking out two batters.
Cole and the Yanks got the better of the Guards, taking them down 6-0 and winning the series. New York now climbs to 73-53 on the year, while Cleveland falls to 73-54.

Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton Home Runs Tonight
Outside of Gerrit Cole being dominant on the mound, the offense did its job. They outhit the Guardians 6-1, with sluggers Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton leading the way.
Stepping up to the plate in the fourth inning with the game tied, Aaron Judge blasted his league-leading 48th home run. He now has three home runs over his last three games.
It would not take much longer for Stanton to join the home run party. He hit a three-run shot in the fifth inning to put the Yankees out in front and keep them there.
The New York Yankees will gear up to take on the Colorado Rockies next for another three-game series over the weekend. Cleveland will try and shake this off as they take on the defending World Series champs, the Texas Rangers, over the weekend.
