New York Yankees vs Texas Rangers: Game, player stats and box scores for September 2

The New York Yankees started their three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field with a convincing 8-4 win on Monday. It was a complete game effort from Aaron Judge's team, with both offense and pitching coming up well, especially considering they are in a tight race with the Baltimore Orioles for the division.

Gerrit Cole pitched a gem, throwing six innings, only allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine Rangers' sluggers. The only run that came against him was in the bottom of the third inning, where Josh Smith's RBI double drove in Marcus Semien. However, there were concerns when he left the seventh innings with an apparent injury.

On the other hand, Rangers starter Jack Leiter was also on point until the sixth innings. He allowed a two-run RBI double to Gleyber Torres in the third. In the sixth is where the Yankees made inroads, with Leiter giving up an extra-base hit to Aaron Judge, who drove in Torres on a double.

Leiter was replaced by Chase Anderson, who also couldn't keep the Bronx Bombers offense quiet. The New York Yankees added five more runs with Anderson on the mound and extended their lead in the game to 7-1.
