"Nobody wants to hear from the murderer at the funeral" - MLB analyst slams John Fisher's 'tone deaf' letter to A’s fans

John Fisher might be the least liked person in the baseball community right now. The Oakland Athletics owner has been under scrutiny since first becoming a majority owner of the A's back in 2005, however, his popularity rating among fans is certainly at an all-time low.

On Thursday, the Oakland Athletics played their final game at the Oakland Coliseum as John Fisher's relocation plan to Las Vegas has already begun. While the A's will play in Sacramento before eventually making the move to Las Vegas, their time in the City of Oakland has come to an end.

It was already a sad moment for A's fans across the globe, as losing one's sports team is one of the worst pains that a fanbase can endure.

That being said, Fisher only made matters worse by penning a letter to Athletics fans, drawing further criticism for his lack of awareness and incompetence as an owner.

This is something that MLB analyst Ann Killion discussed on an episode of Foul Territory. Killion shared her disgust with Fisher's letter with host and former All-Star Todd Frazier.

"It was just so tone deaf but it's kind of what we expect," Killion said of Fisher's letter.

A columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, Killion did not hold back on her thoughts about John Fisher's letter to the fans of the Oakland Athletics. She explained how Fisher made matters worse by sharing such an empty message for the heartbroken fans.

"Nobody wants to hear from the murderer at the funeral. This was a tone deaf, one more insult, he's treated the fans so poorly, it was full of lies and half-truths," Killion continued.

It remains to be seen if the move out of Oakland will change the way that Fisher operates the team, however, given his track record, it seems unlikely that things will improve at this point.

John Fisher drew the ire of fans and analysts across the MLB landscape, not just in Oakland

While it is obvious that Oakland Athletics fans would be frustrated with the entire franchise situation, that anger and disappointment has extended well beyond the Bay Area.

A number of prominent figures across sports media have shared their opinion on Fisher and how he has handled the franchise since becoming the team's owner.

Jeff Passan, Larry Beil, and New York Mets superfan Frank Fleming all shared their thoughts on Fisher and the Oakland situation.
