"Nolan Arenado to Dodgers confirmed" - Fans react as 10x Gold Glove winner uses Kendrick Lamar's latest song to recap offseason
Veteran St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is enjoying the offseason by spending time with his family and friends, embracing the holiday spirit.
He shared a sneak peek of his offseason activities on Instagram on Sunday. However, his choice of song for the post triggered speculations about his MLB future. Arenado chose Kendrick Lamar's latest song 'Dodger Blue,' released in November, for his post.
Fans questioned the ten-time Gold Glove winner's song choice, speculating a move to reigning World Series winners, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"Arenado to Dodgers confirmed," wrote a fan.
"This song has to mean something," another fan wrote.
"Dont't like what the song choice implies,"
"Hey thanks for letting us know so don't waste anymore of my money on your jersey for my son who thinks you're the best and would never leave St.Louis. You were everything to St.Louis you'll be just another teammate of Ohtani for the Dodgers," wrote another fan illiciting a response from the All-Star slugger.
"Ya'all funny," replied Arenado.
"What is happening right now????? asked a puzzled fan."
Nolan Arenado has three seasons left on his Cardinals contract, reportedly earning $74 million. However, reports emerged earlier this month that the Cardinals were open to trading him in the offseason if the veteran slugger waived his no-trade clause.
The Dodgers have already made a big move in the offseason by signing two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell in free agency. Despite their World Series triumph the Dodgers are looking to strengthen and the addition of an experienced bat like Arenado will only improve the team and provide flexibility in defense.
Nolan Arenado's potential trade could help the Yankees
One of the teams that can reportedly use Nolan Arenado's services are the World Series finalists, the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers have an opening in the infield after letting Anthony Rizzo become a free agent in the offseason.
Although Arenado is a third baseman by trade the Yankees could move a few pieces in defense, like playing Jazz Chisholm Jr. at the vacated first base to accommodate the Cardinals veteran at third base.
Despite the rumors, Nolan Arenado has not expressed any interest in waiving his no-trade clause. However, the 2022 MVP finalist has had a couple of underwhelming seasons at the plate and could be looking to revive his career with a move.
