"Not the ending they wanted" - Carlos Rodon's wife Ashley shares precious moment of husband with Yankees ace Gerrit Cole ahead of WS Game 5
The New York Yankees' aspirations of a first World Series title since 2009 ended after a 4-1 defeat in the Fall Classic against the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier this week.
A disappointing loss in Game 5 on Wednesday sealed the Yankees' fate as the Bronx Bombers fell short against the Dodgers. Ahead of the game, Yankees starter Carlos Rodon shared the frame with his teammate and AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole.
Rodon's wife Ashley shared the image in her Instagram story with a message that read:
"Not that ending they wanted, but so thankful for every moment! I know it was a special year."
Gerrit Cole started Game 5 for the Yankees, with the Bronx Bombers hoping to take the series to the sixth game after losing the opening three games of the World Series. Cole was dominant in his start before a hazardous fifth inning saw the Dodgers score five runs to tie the game.
The NL West team completed the turnaround as the Yankees capitulated under pressure to prolong the fans' wait for a World Series title.
Carlos Rodon's wife Ashley reflects on Yankees' season after World Series heartbreak
Although Carlos Rodon and the Yankees' season ended with heartbreak, Rodon's wife Ashley shared some of her most memorable moments from the season.
She shared a picture of one of their sons holding the ALCS trophy after the Yankees' triumph against the Cleveland Guardians. She labelled it as her favorite moment from the playoffs this year.
Ashley was an ever present figure at the ballparks to support her husband and the Yankees. She thanked her friend Amy, Gerrit Cole's wife, for tagging along with her to games.
She shared a special message for her with a photo, captioned:
"Season wouldn't of been same without this special human."
While it was a disappointing end to the season for Rodon and Co., they have plenty to look forward to in the offseason with the hopes of giving a shot at the World Series again next year.
