“Nowhere close to that” – Trevor Bauer trolls opponent while on the mound during Mexican League start

There may be no player in professional baseball as polarizing as Trevor Bauer. Despite the controversy, it's tough to deny that Bauer is not an effective pitcher when he is healthy.

Trevor Bauer has been using that competitive edge to deliver dominant performances in the Mexican League this season. The 33-year-old has risen like a phoenix for the Diablos Rojos del México this year, earning an All-Star selection during his debut season with the club.

Although the Mexican League may not be drawing millions of views on American T.V.s, Bauer has successfully managed to remain relevant among baseball fans by consistently posting on social media. The former Cincinnati Reds superstar has essentially taken on the role of influencer on social media lately, posting videos of his performances in the Mexican League.

"Yep, See Ya" - @BauerOutage

In his latest post, Bauer chose to highlight one of his impressive strikeouts from a recent start

"That's a really weird swing on a middle cutter. You're like late on that," Bauer said after making his opponent foul off a pitch. "We have to go back to that. Nowhere close to that," he continued during the at-bat after an uninspiring swing and miss.

"We're set for a curveball," Bauer said toward the end of the video. "Yep! See ya!" were his final words in the video as he claimed another strikeout victim. Despite some questioning the level of competition in the Mexican League, Trevor Bauer has looked like a man against boys for the majority of the year.

Trevor Bauer's future in the MLB seems uncertain despite strong performances this season

The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher has been delivering quality performance after quality performance this season in Mexico, however, it remains unclear if any MLB club will be willing to give him another shot. The Cy Young Award winner found himself in the middle of sexual assault allegations against him back in 2021.

"Trevor Bauer pitched 8.2 innings yesterday while striking out 19 hitters in the Mexican league. Absolutely insane. Yet MLB doesn’t want him back in the league…." - @BasebaIlKing

Although he was eventually cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, the allegations against him appear to have been the final straw for MLB teams. After years of antics and outspoken behavior, it appears that the MLB may have moved on from Bauer, even if he could still contribute at the major league level. There is still a chance he lands with a club in the future, however, it could be that his MLB career is over.
