“Oh wow the meme potential is absurd here” - MLB fans take a jibe at Pete Fairbanks’ postgame interview after pitching struggles

Pete Fairbanks is having a rough evening after struggling to make ends meet for the Tampa Bay Rays. Fairbanks came to close the game for the Rays but ended up pitching only one inning. Despite holding a one-run lead, the Rays lost against the Los Angeles Angels as Fairbanks failed to get a save.

After their loss, Fairbanks met a few reporters for an interview. The 30-year-old pitcher seemed upset with his performance as he voiced it in his interview, which garnered attention from several MLB fans.

Here's a look at Fairbanks' interview:

Fans couldn't help but comment on his video, which they felt was hilarious.

"Oh wow the meme potential is absurd here," wrote one fan on X.
"Someone please make this into one of them quote memes or whatever," another fan wrote.
"He has a comedic cadence only achieved through pure unbridled rage," another fan added.
"This guy is a weirdo, why did I draft him on my fantasy league," another fan chipped in.

Some fans compared Pete Fairbanks to Zack Greinke.

"Oh good! We need more Zack Greinke-type weirdo pitchers in baseball," one fan wrote.
"Nice to have a new Greinke," another fan responded.

Pete Fairbanks looks to rectify his rough outing

Pete Fairbanks was certainly upset with his performance, but he seems confident for a strong comeback. Fairbanks said his performance generally s***ed but looks forward to rectifying it:

“We're gonna try to rectify that, but for right now, I'm gonna be pretty pissed about it."

The righty blew the save for the Rays as the Angles smashed two runs. To make things worse, the Angels stole two bases. He also surrendered two walks and three hits. Fairbanks is holding a 0-2 record and a 2.29 WHIP with a terrible 9.00 ERA in seven innings pitched.

Every pitcher could encounter a rough outing from time to time. However, Fairbanks said he was not doing what he was good at:

“Just not doing what I'm good at."

With almost the entire season ahead of him, Fairbanks has enough time to get back on track and make up for his loss.
