"Ohtani would be one of them" - Yankees slugger Juan Soto says 2x MVP Shohei Ohtani would be one MLB player he would want to star alongside

New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto is one of the best and most electric players in the game. He has been a force to be reckoned with since making his debut in 2018. Since then, the outfielder from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has continued bolstering his impressive baseball resume.

Soto has been named to the All-Star team for the fourth time in his seven-year MLB career. The Yankees star will be joined in Arlington, Texas, by his teammates Aaron Judge and Clay Holmes. While he will play alongside Judge, who is arguably the best hitter in baseball, there is one player that Soto says that he would like to play with.

With the ongoing excitement around LeBron James and Steph Curry teaming up for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Soto was asked which player he would love to line up next to.

"[Shohei] Ohtani would be one of them - he went to the NL and I went to the AL, so it's tricky," Soto said (via @snyyankees).

It may not be possible for the two to pair up at the All-Star Game this year. However, Juan Soto is a pending unrestricted free agent. Given the unpredictable nature of the offseason, there is a chance they could eventually join up at some point, All-Star Game or not.

Juan Soto's pending free agency could help him lineup next to Shohei Ohtani at some point

Last offseason was defined by Shohei Ohtani's free agency and this upcoming offseason could be defined by Soto himself. The slugging outfielder will find himself with a number of suitors this offseason, even though there is a chance that the New York Yankees could reach an agreement on a long-term extension before then.

That being said, if Soto enters unrestricted free agency, several clubs will be looking to secure his signature. One of the clubs that have been linked to Soto is the New York Mets. If Soto inks a lucrative deal to join the Yankees' crosstown rivals, he could find himself lined up next to Shohei Ohtani in a future All-Star Game.
