"Only the beginning" - Max Clark's fiancee Kayli celebrates as Tigers top prospect crushes first pro grand slam for Triple-A team
Detroit Tigers top prospect Max Clark registered a career-high five RBIs for Single-A Lakeland on Saturday. This included his professional career's first grand slam, helping his team register a 9-2 victory against the Tampa Tarpons at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Clark tapped in on the bases-loaded situation as he crushed an 83-mph changeup by Tarpons righty Danny Flatt on the inside half for a 363-foot home run in the bottom of the second inning.
Clark's fiancee, Kayli Farmer, celebrated and shared the moment on her social media. She was proud when she said it was the start of something bigger.
"So so proud of you only the beginning," Kayli wrote in her story.
Max Clark added an RBI double in the sixth as he finished with 2-for-4 while including a run scored and a walk. He is hitting .281/.382/.400 along with his six home runs and 55 RBIs in 68 games this season at Single-A.
Max Clark purchases a new Corvette and an engagement ring for Kayli within 72 hours of being drafted
After being selected third overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 2023 MLB Draft, Max Clark had few purchases to make with the $7.7 million signing bonus.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the first half of the signing bonus was reflected in his bank account during August and that's when he decided to purchase a new Corvette and an engagement ring for his future wife, Kayli Farmer.
Corvette was purchased in memory of his grandfather, who died 4.5 years ago due to myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells.
"Literally the only memory I have of being with my grandfather is riding around in his Corvette," Clark said. "From a very young age, even before I was good at baseball, whatever I did, I wanted to have the opportunity to be driving a Corvette. That was the second purchase behind an engagement ring."
Clark and Kayli have known each other since high school and have been dating for four years, per freep.com. She plays for the University of Dayton as a freshman soccer player.
