Padres fans incensed as team loses fourth game in a row: "Most fraudulent team in baseball"
The San Diego Padres' dreadful start to season continued with a 4-2 loss against the Boston Red Sox. Strong showings from Emmanuel Valdez and a resurgent Chris Sale ensured Red Sox wrapped up their second win in as many days against the Friars.
The San Diego side have failed to live upto their preseason hype, with the much-hyped offense yet to fully click. MLB insider Bob Nightengale called it "the most disappointing season in franchise history," with this loss being the 11th in their past 13 games.
"The reeling San Diego #Padres, with the largest payroll outside New York, lose again, 4-2. They are 20-26, easily the most disappointing season in franchise history."
"Most fraudulent team in baseball"
"I can go 0-4 for a lot less than you pay this roster"
"You guys are the worst offense in the league by a mile"
"The Padres lineup on paper alone makes them the WS champs. On the field you’re watching the A’s with a sellout crowd"
"Congrats you are on pace to be the worst offense in the history of baseball"
"Jesus Christ. No one go to anymore games please. They don’t deserve it"
"Teams trying to win don't have dixon and Nola in the lineup. You're sending a message to the league and fans that you don't care."
"Please just cancel the rest of the season I seriously can't take this anymore"
"Why is Brandon Dixon or Austin Nola still employed"
"This is the most disappointing, outrageous, horrendous, putrid, disgraceful, repugnant, repulsive, despicable start to a season I have ever seen there is no more excuses. I have tried to hold my disgust I’ve had for the past few weeks but something needs to be done."
