"Patrick Mahomes is kind of our boss in a way" - Bobby Witt Jr. agrees Kansas City Chiefs' 3x Super Bowl winning QB's Royals ownership helps business

After an impressive 2024 season, Bobby Witt Jr. has emerged as one of Kansas City's most prominent sports stars. His local fame is only eclipsed by the stalwarts on the Chiefs roster, including Patrick Mahomes. The Royals shortstop had a chuckle about Mahomes owning the Kansas City Royals.

On the Rich Eisen Show podcast, Bobby Witt Jr. was asked about his time at the NFL season opener between the Chiefs and Ravens. While discussing Mahomes' ownership of the Royals, Witt called him their 'boss'.

"He's kind of our boss in a way, but like yeah, he's such a role model for everyone in Kansas City, so we are supporting him and the Chiefs," Witt said jokingly.

Witt also discussed Kansas City's Super Bowl celebration at Kauffman Stadium. That day, Mahomes' teammate Travis Kelce threw the ceremonial first pitch with Bobby behind the plate.

Moreover, when Eisen stated that Mahomes owning the Royals was good for business, Witt Jr. completely agreed with the statement.

Bobby Witt Jr. details his transition from Patriots to Chiefs fan

Bobby Witt Jr. also described how he became a Chiefs fan after being drafted by Kansas City. He was initially a die-hard Patriots fan, having supported all Boston-based teams from a young age because his father hailed from Massachusetts.

"I grew up a Patriots fan. My dad is from Massachusetts, so I grew up as a huge Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox fan. Then all the winning that went around it was pretty easy to root for. [Tom] Brady was my guy.
"Then Mahomes was drafted a bit before me and seeing what he's doing for the city and everything. My sister got me a Mahomes jersey in 2019, so had that and kinda became a fan," Witt explained.

At just 24 years of age, Witt is the face of the Royals franchise. He is hitting .337 this season with 97 RBIs and 30 home runs. His contributions to Kansas City's success have been vital. Many even call him a strong contender for the American League MVP award.
