Paul Skenes & girlfriend Olivia Dunne cap off Pirates' regular season with romantic dinner in NYC, boyfriend's selfie game leaves her eye-rolling
On Saturday, Olivia Dunne's boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes, capped off his incredible rookie season with two perfect innings against the New York Yankees, making easy out of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto at the plate.
Following that outing, with Pirates not qualifying for the postseason, Skenes has a long offseason to mull over his impressive numbers. He finished with 11-3 and 1.96 ERA, making him the frontrunner in the NL Rookie of the Year race.
The offseason celebrations started with Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes going out on a romantic dinner date night on Sunday in NYC. However, Dunne made sure to let followers know Skenes' not-so-impressive selfie game.
"Doesn't know how to take a mirror pic," she wrote in her story.
Dunne wore an elegant off-the-shoulder black dress, pairing it with a ponytail hairstyle for the night. Meanwhile, the simplistic Skenes wore a blue button-up shirt paired with brown pants, contrasting nicely with Dunne's attire.
The dinner at 4 Charles Prime Rib (Steakhouse by Brendan Sodikoff, owner of Au Cheval) saw the couple trying different delicacies before Olivia Dunne hailing it as "good."
Olivia Dunne was in Paul Skenes' Pirates-themed boots for rookie's final start
Olivia Dunne started preparations early for Paul Skenes' final game this season. On Tuesday, she received a custom-made pair from Jessica Martini. The boots had the Pirates' white jerseys themes inspired from Skenes' No. 30 jersey.
Dunne would go on to wear these boots for the Pirates' game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. In a series of photos shared by the social media star on Thursday, Dunne was seen hugging her boyfriend in those boots.
After the NYC trip, Olivia Dunne is back in Baton Rouge, resuming her preparation for her fifth and final season with the LSU Tigers. As for Skenes, he can sit back and enjoy the MLB postseason from the comfort of his home as he hopes to get enough votes to be named the NL Rookie of the Year.
