Paul Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne drops 2-word reaction to Pirates rookie's final NL ROY nomination joined by Jackson Merrill & Jackson Chourio
Paul Skenes' girlfriend and LSU Tigers gymnast Olivia Dunne couldn't control her excitement as finalists for the National League Rookie of the Year were unveiled on Monday. The Pirates pitcher has been nominated on the back of a remarkable rookie season alongside Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill and Brewers rookie Jackson Chourio.
Dunne took to social media to celebrate Skenes' nomination and dropped a two-word reaction:
"Oo Lala."
The 22-year-old pitcher moved up the ranks in the Pirates organization after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft. Last year he helped the LSU Tigers baseball team secure a seventh NCAA title in franchise history and also took the honors of College World Series MVP.
His talents didn't go unnoticed, and the Pirates brought him in with a $9.6 million signing bonus. Just shy of a year in the minor leagues, Paul Skenes earned a deserved promotion to the MLB by manager Derek Shelton in May.
Skenes has garnered the loving support of the Bucs nation and had loved ones in the stands cheering for him, especially Olivia Dunne during all game days. He created history by earning an All-Star nod in his rookie campaign and finished the season on a high with an 11-3 record, 1.96 ERA, 170 strikeouts, and a 0.95 WHIP.
