Paul Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne has one-word reaction to Pirates ace's NL Cy Young Award nomination in his rookie year
Paul Skenes' girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, was delighted after the Pirates pitcher was nominated for the prestigious NL Cy Young award on Monday. The 22-year-old rookie will be up against the Braves' Chris Sale and Phillies' Zack Wheeler.
Dunne celebrated Skenes' nomination for the NL Cy Young Award by sharing it on her Instagram stories with a one-word reaction:
"Slay."
Manager Derek Shelton let Skenes play in the minors for some time to develop his game, but his performances were sublime and he was called up in May. Skenes registered his maiden win against the Cubs in only his second start of the season and never looked back.
He made 23 starts in the regular season, finishing with an impressive 11-3 record with an ERA of 1.96, 0.95 WHIP, and a whopping 170 strikeouts. He also started the Midsummer Classic for the NL All-Stars.
Skenes' girlfriend Olivia Dunne made her presence felt inside PNC Park and cheered for her man during several home starts this past season.
