“People don’t know what Freddie Freeman goes through” - Mookie Betts appreciates his teammate's effort despite several obstacles this season
Freddie Freeman and the Los Angeles Dodgers are coming off a victory against the San Diego Padres to punch their ticket to the NLCS. The Dodgers will take on the New York Mets as they inch one step closer to their World Series dream.
While the team has come a long way this season, Freeman has played a crucial role in their success. The toughest part was doing it despite several obstacles. In August, Freeman's son Max was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The Dodgers first baseman saw his son admitted to hospital.
The good news is that Max is recovering and doing much better. Freeman took some time off to be with his family before continuing to perform for his team despite an ankle injury.
During a postgame interview with Sports Net LA, Betts appreciated Freeman for his effort despite his personal struggles.
"It goes unnoticed by everyone on the outside. People don’t know what Freddie goes through but on the inside, we know how hard he fights we know what he’s going through and we know how much he wants to win,” Betts said.
Betts praised Freeman for being a better person, leader and great teammate.
"Can't really ask for a better leader, a better teammate, a better person than Freddie Freeman," Betts continued.
Freddie Freeman was spotted with his ankle taped up against the Padres
Freeman injured his ankle while playing the Padres toward the end of the regular season. The Dodgers star was forced to miss the last few games.
However, he got back on the field for Game 2 of the NLDS. On his return, the injury became worse, and he was forced to stay out again.
Freeman returned to play the crucial Game 5 and will look to play a crucial part in the Dodgers' NLCS as they take on the New York Mets.
