Pete Alonso's wife Haley playfully reacts to Mets star husband's speedy base-running moment during NLCS Game 2

New York Mets infielder Pete Alonso is more known for his power hitting than trotting the bases hard. However, Alonso displayed the other less known side of his game by not only stealing a base but hustling to home plate for a run.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped NLCS Game 2 against the Mets 7-3, thereby tying the best of seven series 1-1. In the top of ninth inning, with the Mets leading 6-3, Alonso was walked. The first baseman then proceeded to steal second off Edgardo Henriquez.

With him in scoring position, Starling Marte singled to center field, on which Pete Alonso hustled from second to home plate for a run that extended the Mets lead 7-3. Alonso's wife, Haley, reshared the post on her social media while writing:

Haley also reacted to Game 2 win, saying:

"It's a happy flight back home."

Not only that, she also said that Alonso's playoff pumpkin, a good luck charm for the team, has made an appearance in LA.

Pete Alonso bought a pumpkin and the Mets are unstoppable; How did it all start?

The New York Mets have been the baseball team since June. However, they needed a win on the final day of their regular season to clinch a wildcard sport, which they eventually did. However, they had the lowest odds of coming out as World Series champions as October began.

Interestingly, Pete Alonso bought a pumpkin at a nearby Milwaukee pumpkin patch ahead of the wild card series against the Brewers. The first baseman was in a slump but since that pumpkin came into existence, coincident or not, he was able to break out of it, hitting a game-winning three-run home run that sent the Brewers packing and the Mets to the NLDS.

"It's the playoff pumpkin," Alonso said. "Nothing's more fall than playoff baseball and pumpkins."

Mets supporters rallied behind that pumpkin, believing the good luck charm would help the club overcome odds. The Mets, despite being heavy underdogs, came out winners against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS, booking a slot in the NLCS.

Even in this series, they have tied the series 1-1 before going back to Citi Field.
