"Phillies are the best team in the National League, they don't have a major weakness" - MLB analyst on Philadephia's home field advantage

The Philadelphia Phillies have been known to be one of the strongest teams at home in the MLB. Win/loss records for past seasons and excellent postseason home records are proof that Citizens Bank Park is definitely an advantage. Plus the versatile roster is best suited to win games in Philadelphia.

On the the MLB Network Radio, host Steve Phillips, and former utility player and analyst Eduardo Perez, discussed how the fans in Philly make the team better. Eduardo pointed out that the Phillies enjoy a particular home field advantage. He also mentioned that despite losing two clutch games in the NL Championship Series last year to the Diamondbacks, the Phillies are on track to repeat postseason success in 2024.

"There's a home-field advantage to be had and I know what happened last year. Games 6 and 7 went to Arizona but Philadelphia is a special spot to be able to play better and this year they backed that up... Playing in Citizens Bank Park is definitely an advantage for the Phillies, something that they are eyeing right now," Perez said.

Phillips added that Philadelphia is the best team in the National League, even better than the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are currently tied with the Phillies with 86 wins. He stated that the roster is full of superstars and while other teams in contention are lacking in some departments. He said Philadelphia has zero shortcomings.

"Phillies I think are the best team in the National League. They are one team that doesn't have a glaring weakness. It doesn't mean they are going to win but they don't have a major weakness... They are very all-round well built roster," Phillips said.

Postseason record at Citizens Bank Park certainly hints at home-field advantage

The Philadelphia Phillies boast an impressive 28-13 record at Citizens Bank Park in the postseason since the ballpark opened in 2007. The fans are said to be the most noisy and energetic attendees in baseball.

Not just in the postseason, but even in the regular season the team had won 47 out of 87 total wins at home in 2022, 49 out of 90 in 2023 and currently have 47 wins at home this season. In 2024, the team has 97 home runs and 3.54 ERA in Philadelphia, compared to 73 homers and 3.94 ERA on the road.

The Phillies would want to continue with this performance in the three home series left against the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs.
