On Sunday, Captain Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees held their annual homecoming dinner and auction. This event is one of the team's biggest fundraising events of the year for the Yankees organization.
Before the festivities got underway, Judge took to Instagram to share a picture of him and his teammates clad in some of the flashiest suits around.
Marcus Stroman drew the most attention, standing in the center of the frame wearing a crisp white suit. Moreover, outfielder Alex Verdugo's hat was a hit. The assembly took place after the Yankees ousted the Chicago White Sox 7-2 earlier.
Following the dinner, guests participated in an auction featuring a variety of team memorabilia and other things of interest. By the end of the night, Juan Soto had paid $16,000 for a portrait of himself created by Pittsburgh-based artist Cody Sabol.
For the Yankees, the event came against a rather positive backdrop. Now with a record of 33-15, the team is two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.
Over the past seven days, the Yankees have led the American League in both home runs and batting average. When it comes to RBIs and runs scored, the Yankees are second only to the Boston Red Sox. As the team sets out on a western road trip over the next two weeks, they will hope to keep the momentum going.
Aaron Judge's leadership transcends the playing field
Aaron Judge, who is now 10-for-20 in the last seven games, has been a key component of the team's success. Alex Verdugo, Judge's teammate, recently spoke to FOX Sports about the importance of the 6-foot-7 outfielder.
"He's always having the boys over, playing FIFA, and doing stuff on the road," Verdugo said. "He's someone that goes about it the right way. It's cool to see, because when you have that much success, you don't really know how a guy's going to be. But the fact that he's super humble, loves everybody, and really genuinely wants everyone to do good, he's the best."
As the Yankees set out west with the AL's best record, watch out for Judge to continue to set the bar.
