"Plenty of mistakes were made" - CC Sabathia breaks down Yankees' 4-1 loss to Dodgers in 2024 World Series

Former New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia was rooting hard for his old team in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was part of the last Bronx Bombers club to win the illustrious title in 2009.

However, the Yanks would have a tough time against the Dodgers, who caught fire at the right time. They lost the series 4-1 after LA completed an epic comeback on Wednesday.

While much of the attention is on how the Yanks blew a 5-0 lead to lose the series, Sabathia made a long post on X detailing what went wrong for his former squad.

"Everybody wants me to say the Yankees blew it as if it'll make the situation better. Plenty of mistakes were made and with two great teams, it came down to all the fundamentals... errors, fielding, base running, timely at-bats, situational pitching," Sabathia wrote.

Sabathia believes it was the little things that decided this World Series. From situational hitting to the errors made in the field, the Dodgers were at the top of their game.

"The reality is the Dodgers executed throughout the lineup and all that made the difference. Yeah it hurts.. The Game 1 walk-off and last night's 5th inning was hard to digest, and I wanted to see my guys lift that trophy but they still made it to the World Series and put themselves in a position to contend. The better team won. That's postseason baseball," Sabathia added.

This World Series loss will sting for the Yankees fanbase for a while. They were that close to hoisting another World Series title, but it fell through their fingertips.

Now, the club has some big decisions to make over the winter. They have already stated that manager Aaron Boone will return next season, but they have a star potentially leaving.

Juan Soto is now a free agent, and the Yanks would love to have him back. He as great this year in the Bronx, but the slugger is searching for his bag and is open to playing anywhere next season.

"I don't know what's the teams that are going to come after me. Defintely, I'll be open to this and every single team. I don't have any doors closed. I'm gonna be available for all 30 teams," said Soto.

It will be interesting to see where Soto ends up. The Yanks have the cash to get his attention, but will they be the highest bidder?
