"Pro players should give this a listen" - Trevor Bauer hypes up agent Rachel Luba's critique on low salaries for MLB players with limited playing time

Trevor Bauer admires his agent, Rachel Luba, for helping him find a new home and continue playing baseball. The former 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner is currently playing ball in the Mexican Professional Baseball League with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico and recently extended his contract with the ballclub until the end of the season.

Rachel Luba is the founder of Luba Sports Agency, which helps various baseball players get contracts in varying leagues around the globe. She helped Trevor Bauer achieve a $4 million contract with the Yokohama DeNa BayStars from the NPB in 2023 and then with the Rojos del Mexico in 2024.

Besides being a player agent, she is an attorney by profession, and she recently critiqued the low salaries for MLB players with only limited playing time. Her short reel was shared by Trevor Bauer on his Instagram story, with the caption:

In the reel, Rachel Luba says:

"There are so many talented and skilled baseball players out there who haven't had a chance to make a meaningful salary for them or their families because they are either stuck getting very little playing time in MLB or they're stuck in Double A or Triple A becasue their organization is stacked and there just really isn't a lot of opportunities for them in the big leagues for the forseeable future."
"But, what if there was a better opportunity for players to make more money and get more playing time? Well, there is, playing in Asia allows players to make more money, get more playing time and portentially even come back to MLB and sign a bigger free agent contract."

Trevor Bauer last pitched in the MLB with the LA Dodgers in July 2021. Since then, he has been forced to find playing time elsewhere in various other leagues. His agent, Rachel Luba, continues to make a case for her star client, who has been impressive in his stints in Japan and Mexico.

Trevor Bauer's agent, Rachel Luba, reflected on her client's continued efforts to get back into MLB

After Bauer signed a contract extension with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico to keep playing with them until the end of the 2024 season, his agent Rachel Luba, reflected on the deal and voiced her take on it:

"Yeah, Trevor deciding to stay I think just had a lot to do with the fun he's having playing down here. He came down just for five games initially, but was really enjoying it. He decided it's not a bad place to be while trying to get back into MLB."

It remains to be seen if and when Trevor Bauer will pitch in MLB again, but in Rachel Luba, he has an agent who will continue to find good opportunities for him.
