“Ridiculous, Francisco Lindor should have won” - MLB fans in disbelief as slugger fails to make Gold Glove finalist after stellar NLCS defensive play
Francisco Lindor's defensive skills have been exceptional this season, and the Mets star has carried his team to the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lindor's performance at the plate has been equally good, but he failed to make the 2024 MLB Gold Glove finalists.
Lindor does not care much about winning the Gold Glove since he's keen on winning the World Series. The veteran slugger continues to provide defensive support for the Mets.
During the Dodgers vs. Mets showdown, Lindor made yet another incredible defensive play, preventing Mookie Betts from possibly reaching second base. MLB fans were astonished by Lindor's play as they took to social media to comment in disbelief of the slugger's absence for the Golden Glove finalists.
Here's a look at some of the fan reactions on X.
"But he's not a gold glover, right? Ridiculous. Not only should he have been nominated, he should have won," wrote one fan on X.
"If you've ever played you understand just how amazing that play was!" wrote another fan.
"Where’s his gold glove nomination tho?" one fan asked.
Comments continued to flow as some fans called out the MLB for keeping him off the list.
"Do better with awards mlb. Delete this as hes not even in the finalist at SS," one fan chipped in.
"Don’t watch baseball often but this guy has to be a gold glove candidate, right?" one fan asked.
"Not the MVP but insane that he's not a Gold Glove Finalist. MLB just fix it, its silly," another fan wrote.
Brayan Rocchio, Anthony Volple, and Bobby Witt Jr. surpass Francisco Lindor
It's hard for some fans to believe that Francisco Lindor has not been qualified, let alone make it to the final list. The Guardians' Brayan Rocchio, Yankees' Anthony Volpe, and Royals' Bobby Witt Jr. were the finalists from the shortstop position, who surpassed Lindor.
While Rocchio, Volpe, and Witt have been excellent defenders, Francisco Lindor has also proved to be a valuable shortstop for the Mets. It's natural for fans to call out the league for not putting Lindor on that list.
The Mets continue their battle against the Dodgers as they enter Game 4 at Citi Field.
