Ronald Acuna Jr.'s wife Maria reveals her 'new obsession' while his Braves teammate Austin Riley's wife Anna introduces their infant's 'best friend'
The Atlanta Braves' 2024 season ended as they lost their Wild Card playoff series to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The likes of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Austin Riley were sorely missed in the playoffs, as they were unavailable due to injury.
Acuna tore his left ACL back in May, while Riley broke his hand in August. As a result, both players' 2024 season was ended prematurely.
Unable to be involved in the team's day-to-day routine due to injuries, the two stars had more opportunities to spend quality time at home with their families. Acuna has two sons, Ronald Daniel and Jamall, with his wife Maria. Riley has two sons as well, Eason and William, with his wife Anna.
Being the wives of two important players for the Braves, naturally, the ladies are quite popular on social media.
On Saturday, Maria posted a picture to her Instagram stories, showcasing her "new obsession," dairy-free yogurt. Meanwhile, Anna Riley posted an adorable snap of her infant son with his "best friend."
After dating for around four years, Acuna and Maria Laborde got engaged in January 2023, before getting married in August. Riley and his wife Anna tied the knot in November 2018.
When Ronald Acuna Jr. married Maria Laborde and hit a grand slam against the Dodgers on the same day in 2023
Few people will have a wedding day story better than Ronald Acuna Jr. The Atlanta Braves superstar succesfully planned and executed a wedding on extremely short notice with longtime girlfriend Maria Laborde, before going on to hit a grand slam against the Los Angeles Dodgers and reach an incredible statistical landmark, all on the same day.
Due to visa regulations, Maria had to periodically shuttle between Venezuela and the United States. Though the pair were originally planning to get married back home in Venezuela after the end of the season, getting married sooner would help prevent Maria from needing to leave with the end of the season fast approaching.
Scheduled to play in Los Angeles on August 31, the young star promptly organized a ceremony in Agoura Hills, California, with the help of his manager (via ESPN).
Straight after exchanging vows, he headed to Dodger Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, playing a crucial part in the Braves' 8-7 victory on the day as he hit a grand slam. Acuna reached the impressive milestone of becoming the first ever player to hit 30 home runs and steal 60 bases in the same season.
With his new wife and two sons by his side, he continued his incredible form for the remainder of the regular season, and went on to be crowned the NL MVP for the 2023 season.
