San Diego Padres vs Atlanta Braves Game Player Stats and Box Scores for October 2

On Wednesday, the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves entered their 2nd NL Wild Card game at Petco Park. Both teams continued their intense battle to qualify for the NLDS. The Braves had Max Fried take the mound against Joe Musgrove.

Musgrove had a shaky start as Michael Harris II scored in the first inning with an RBI double by Marcell Ozuna. San Diego started out well as they loaded the bases at the bottom of the first, but Fried worked his way out of the jam.

Kyle Higashioka stepped up to the plate to send one deep to left field, and in no time, the Padres were on the board to tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. Manny Machado stepped in for the second time with the bases loaded and smashed a base hit, driving in two runs for his team.

Jackson Merrill made things worse for the Braves by driving another two runs. The Braves trailed their opponent with a 5-1 score after just two innings. Unfortunately, Musgrove was forced to leave the game with an injury in the fourth inning.

Jorge Soler smashed a home run in the top of the fifth inning against Bryan Hoeing to get the second run for his team.
