"She had a lot of red lipstick on" - Derek Jeter reflects on his first impression of meeting future wife Hannah Davis
It has been eight years since the marriage of Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis. The duo first met at a New York restaurant in 2012 and were introduced to each other by a mutual friend.
The couple signed a multi-year deal with Jeep in 2022 to promote its Wagoneer lineup, and on Tuesday, they uploaded a video on Instagram to share news about the company's new fully electric SUV. In the video, they delved into some nostalgic moments and shared memories such as their first impression of each other when they met.
"She had a lot of red lipstick on," Jeter recalled.
"It was the last time I have ever worn red lipstick, but apparently I looked like a clown," Hannah said. "I thought he was quiet, very reserved."
The Yankees icon also talked about his first professional baseball memory.
"My first professional game, I had a double header, I was a rookie ball, I went 0 for 8 with 7 strikeouts and made 2 errors. Thanks for bringing it up," Jeter said.
Hannah recalls her first meeting with Derek Jeter
As previously mentioned, Derek and Hannah met at a restaurant in 2012. The Yankees star was there with a group of friends, and one of them knew Hannah—who was there with her mother.
"There was a connection from the very beginning, even though he was mostly talking to my mom, but there was that connection and I felt like he's so mysterious, I want to know more," Hannah shared in the ESPN docuseries, The Captain.
When Hannah went to the bathroom with her mother, she mentioned how she didn't want Jeter to get the feeling that she was seeing someone. To Hannah's horror, her mom subtly mentions that her daughter was single.
"I just remember feeling like I was dying inside. Like, I hope he didn't just hear that because I don't want to sound desperate."
Luckily, Jeter also wanted to get to know her and had a friend help him out.
"I had touched base with a friend of mine that knew her and we ended up meeting up a few days later," Jeter said.
After dating for four years, the couple married on July 9, 2016 at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort in St. Helena, California.
One year later, on August 17, 2017, the couple welcomed their first daughter: Bella Raine Jeter. In January 2019, the Jeter family welcomed another daughter, Story Grey. River Rose Jeter, the couple's third daughter, was born in December 2021. Hannah gave birth to their first son, Kaius Green, in May 2023.
