Shohei Ohtani ties Roy Campanella’s 1955 Dodgers record with an RBI in nine straight games
Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has been on an absolute tear as of late. He recently broke a franchise record for having an extra-base hit, a run and an RBI in his last seven games.
However, he made more history following his first-inning home run on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox, per Dodger Talk host David Vassegh. The homer marked Ohtani's ninth straight game with an RBI, leapfrogging him past Roy Campanella, who hit an RBI in eight-straight games for the club in 1955.
This goes to show just how elite of a player Ohtani is. That record stood for 69 seasons, and he broke it during his first season wearing Dodger blue.
Shohei Ohtani must keep up his hot streak as Dodgers deal with injuries
here is no denying that much of the baseball world expects the Dodgers to win the World Series this season. They had a monstrous offseason, signing players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow, just to name a few.
However, the Juggernaut lineup took a hit when Mookie Betts fractured his left hand last week. It is a huge blow for the squad as Betts had been playing out of his mind.
Things went from bad to worse after the fanbase learned that Yoshinobu Yamamoto would head to the IL. The hard-throwing righty is dealing with a strained rotator cuff, and there is no timetable for his return.
More recently. the club also learned that Clayton Kershaw would be shut down for at least a week. The veteran lefty is dealing with shoulder soreness as he tries to make his season debut.
With the amount of injuries, manager Dave Roberts will need Ohtani to keep going at the plate. Luckily for the Dodgers, he knows a thing or two about carrying a team on his back.
