The LA Dodgers acquired Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline. The right-handed pitcher made his first start for the Dodgers against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday at Oakland Coliseum.
Flaherty threw six scoreless innings, consisting of seven strikeouts, five hits, and one walk. When he left the game, the Dodgers were enjoying a healthy lead of 2-0, and it seemed likely they would get Flaherty his first win with the Dodgers.
This pitching spectacle by Jack Flaherty has left many impressed. Many already see him as a steal at the trade deadline, while others appreciate him being on point with his stuff.

The Dodgers wound up winning 10-0 as Flaherty got the W. Gavin Lux has contributed with two RBIs.
Jack Flaherty is excited to get to represent his hometown
The former Tigers pitcher is from Burbank, California and when he learned about his trade to the Dodgers, he felt 'special.'
"It didn't really sink in until I got on the phone with my mom and she brought up some things," Flaherty said following his trade went official. "I think everyone deep down wants to play for their hometown team. Getting the opportunity to (do it) is just special."
Though his first start won't be in Chavez Ravine, he'll surely be on the mound at Dodger Stadium once the ongoing road trip ends. Also, with the Dodgers, he can be certain of pitching in the postseason and maybe earn his way to winning the first World Series of his career.
