"That guy is going to get paid a lot of money" - Corbin Carroll will move out of right field if D'Backs acquire Juan Soto
Juan Soto and the New York Yankees were able to pick up their first win of the World Series on Tuesday night, moving them closer to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who hold a 3-1 series lead.
The Yankees will be looking to manufacture a historic comeback by picking up another victory on Wednesday.
All this being said, even though the World Series is still going, the upcoming unrestricted free agency of Juan Soto remains one of the top headlines in MLB.
The Yankees outfielder is on the cusp of securing one of the richest contracts in baseball history, however, where he lands remains the biggest question.
A number of different clubs have been mentioned as potential landing spots for Soto, including the Yankees, New York Mets, and San Francisco Giants. While many view these clubs as the most realistic destinations for Soto, a surprise team could emerge as a contender.
If that team ended up being the Arizona Diamondbacks, star Corbin Carroll said that he would be willing to change his defensive position in order to facilitate the move. On the latest episode of "Foul Territory," Carroll praised the Yankees slugger.
"I would love to [change positions]. Played that guy in division last year, obviously not his best year but everything he does is just special, so that guy's going to get paid alot of money [19:47]," Carroll said of Juan Soto.
While it appears unlikely that the Diamondbacks would be a legitimate landing spot for Soto, adding him to a talented lineup that features the likes of Carroll, Ketel Marte, and Christian Walker could be dangerous for the rest of the league.
Juan Soto is expected to sign a contract worth up to $600 million
Juan Soto has enjoyed a tremendous career already, winning a World Series in 2019 with the Washington Nationals.
Since that time, he has continued to prove why he is widely considered one of the best players in MLB. And now, he is on track to be financially rewarded for it. Some experts have even suggested that he could land a deal worth $600,000,000.
Even though Soto is playing alongside Aaron Judge with the New York Yankees in the World Series, there is no guarantee that he is going to re-sign with the club.
It may simply come down to which team will be able to hand him the largest check, which is why some believe that the New York Mets could be his landing spot. No matter where he lands, Soto is going to be paid handsomely.
