"That was insanely good" — Fans buzz over Gunnar Henderson's spot-on Scooby-Doo impression during MLB HR Derby

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson arrived at Globe Life Field for the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby contest with a custom bat inspired by Scooby-Doo. However, he gave an underwhelming performance, blasting only 11 home runs to finish last in the eight-slugger field.

Before all of that, Henderson, while making his way through ESPN's set, was asked to impersonate the voice of Scooby-Doo. And he could have easily been mistaken for the actual voice of the character from the cartoon series.

“Ruh-roh, Raggy!” Henderson said.

Folks on the internet soon reacted to the video of Henderson perfectly impersonating the voice of Scooby.

"That was insanely good omg," one wrote.
"Common Gunnar W," another commented.

Reactions tying Henderson's impersonation to Ingrid Andress' poorly received rendition of the National Anthem also came up:

"He should’ve sung the national anthem," one fan wrote.
"Gunnar singing the anthem as Scooby Doo would have been better than what we got," another commented.
"Better than the anthem" another wrote.

Gunnar Henderson's custom bat was made by Chandler Bats, a sporting goods manufacturer from Port St. Lucie in Florida. Moreover, Triple-A Norfolk manager Buck Britton was Henderson's Derby pitcher.

Following the Derby contest, a reporter asked Gunnar Henderson why he used custom bat inspired by Scooby-Doo, to which he answered:

“Well, I’m sure you’ve all heard the impression by now,” Henderson said. “And then, when I was younger, that was my favorite show growing up.”

This wasn't the only time the former AL Rookie of the Year showed his voiceover talent. Previously on the Orioles' podcast "The Chill," Henderson impersonated Scooby-Doo and said he could also impersonate Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks.

On Tuesday, we'll see if Henderson uses the same Scooby-Doo custom bat when he gets on the plate while representing the American League in the MLB All-Star Game.
