"That’s a Yankees move" - Fans buzz as Athletics take dig at White Sox by playing Taylor Swift's '22' amid Chicago team's losing streak

The Chicago White Sox's season hit another low during their game against the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. The A's mocked the White Sox for their abysmal losing streak of 21 games ahead of their matchup.

Arguably the worst team in the MLB this season, the White Sox cannot seem to catch a break. During the warmups for their game against the A's on Tuesday, the Oakland Coliseum echoed with Taylor Swift's popular single '22.'

The track was a subtle jibe at the White Sox, who headed into the game with the aspiration of avoiding a 22nd consecutive defeat.

MLB fans joined in on the fun to troll the White Sox.

"That’s a Yankees move, A’s," wrote a fan.
"White Sox being manhandled by a team that won’t have a stadium next season," mocked another fan.
"You know you’re in a bad spot when you’re getting clowned by the A’s," chimed in another fan.

However, the move backfired on the hosts as the White Sox finally ended their unprecedented losing streak after a 5-1 win on the night.

White Sox relieved after snapping 21-game losing streak just 2 games shy of all-time MLB record

There was a sense of relief in the White Sox dugout after the team finally ended an American League record of consecutive losses. White Sox manager Pedro Grifol heralded his players for their mental fortitude amid the worst slump in the franchise's history.

"Any time you win it's great. Anytime you win when you lose 21 in a row it's even better," manager Pedro Grifol told reporters. "I'm proud of these guys. They kept going, they just keep coming to the ballpark every day to play hard and they care for each other.

The win for the White Sox means they remain the holder of the second-worst losing streak in MLB history with 21 losses, the same as the 1988 Baltimore Orioles. However, the Philadelphia Phillies' record of 23 consecutive defeats in a row stays intact for the time being.
