"The atmosphere you're looking for"- Aaron Judge reflects on Yankees' clutch win over Red Sox with Fenway Park's incredible crowd rocking
Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees ended their three-game losing streak after a thrilling win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Following the win, the Yankees captain remarked on the electric atmosphere at Fenway Park.
The ongoing series between the arch-rivals lived to the billing on Saturday as the division rivals went neck-to-neck for the entire game, pushing the game into extra innings.
Aaron Judge had a stellar outing for his team, extending his lead at the home run charts with his 37th homer of the season during Saturday's nail-biting game. Judge acknowledged the atmosphere at the ballpark, saying:
"It was incredible. When you come to Fenway Park, this is the atmosphere you're looking for. Fans were in it from the beginning. You love being in this game, in these moments."
The Yankees seemingly headed for another disappointing loss after the Red Sox took an 8-6 lead in the seventh inning. However, the Bronx Bombers showed their grit to send the game into extra innings and clinch the game after scoring five unanswered runs.
Judge reached base a career-high five times on the night, going 4-4 while driving three runs on four hits to go along with a solo home run. He now leads the charts for RBIs (95) this season.
Aaron Judge reflects on team's fighting mentality
The Yankees' offense led by Aaron Judge and Juan Soto seems to have regained its form over the last two games, scoring seven and 11 runs, respectively. However, the offense is only going to get stronger with the imminent return of Giancarlo Stanton and the latest addition of Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Judge also reflected on the team's fighting mentality despite a narrow loss in the series opener and what it meant to draw level in the three-game series.
“A win’s a win, just like a loss is a loss,” said Judge with a smile. “We battled in [Friday’s] game, but you know, we lost that game. But we came out today ready to do our thing. You have to have tough moments, go through tough losses, but we came out with a win today.”
The two division rivals will fight in Sunday's series finale, with the Yankees hoping to take inspiration from their come-from-behind victory.
