One of the most iconic seasons in Boston Red Sox history came in 2004. That year, the franchise finally broke the "Curse of the Bambino," ending their 86-year championship drought. Now, fans can relive all the moments of the historic season in an upcoming documentary.

In an upcoming three-episode series titled "The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox," fans will get an in-depth look into the team's World Series run. The series will reportedly feature exclusive interviews with some of the team's biggest stars, including David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez.

How and where to watch the upcoming Boston Red Sox documentary

"The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox" is set to debut on Oct. 23 on Netflix. To watch the series, fans will need to subscribe to the Netflix streaming service.

It remains to be seen if the documentary series will become widely available at a later date, however, for now it will be solely available to stream on Netflix. The series is directed by Colin Barnicle, who has worked on a number of projects before, including "Billy Joel: New York State of Mind" in 2017.

What will be covered in the docu-series?

One of the major storylines came in the team's historic comeback against the New York Yankees in the ALCS. In the championship series, the Yankees took a commanding 3-0 lead, which seemed to be too much for Boston to overcome. However, the beloved roster made a historic comeback to win the series 4-3 in Game 7.

To this day, the 2004 Boston Red Sox are the only team in MLB history to overcome a three-game deficit to win a champion series. Thanks to the heroics of a number of club stars such as David Ortiz, Jason Varitek and Johnny Damon, Boston advanced to the World Series, eventually defeating the St. Louis Cardinals to win the title.

Earlier this season, the Boston Red Sox organization honored the 2004 championship team at Fenway Park, including a special tribute to the late Tim Wakefield and his wife Stacy, who both died from their battles with cancer. Part of the emotional moment featured Wakefield's daughter Brianna throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
