"The lunge is hit and press back quick" - Trevor Bauer teaches teammate proper hip rotation while on the mound
Trevor Bauer has long been giving pitchers advice throughout his career. From giving tips to pitchers on what they should be doing during warmups to more advanced techniques on the mound, Bauer loves to teach.
That has not stopped since he arrived in the Mexican League. He has constantly posted video after video going into much detail on how to be as successful as possible on the mound.
He recently posted a video on his X account, where he helped his teammate. In the video, he talks about hip rotation on the mound and gives a great visual of the proper technique.
"From there, take this and rotate. That's how you use it. So, it's here, down ... So when this rotates, this is in the air still and then this stops," said Bauer.
Bauer was trying to help his teammate get a better feel for his lower half. Proper hip rotation is what allows max-velocity guys to throw as hard as they do.
"This stops and presses this hip. The backside is half rotation and then the front side is the last half rotation ... And the lunge, it's hit and press back, quick," said Bauer.
Trevor Bauer honored as the Mexican League's Pitcher of the Year
Trevor Bauer was more than impressive during his sting in the Mexican League this past season. He was lights-out, frustrating opposing hitters with heavy velocity and tons of movement.
In June, he set the Mexican League strikeout record with 19 strikeouts. He led all pitchers with his 10-0 record while posting a 2.48 ERA. He led his club to the Series del Rey, where they won it all.
During the postseason, Bauer put together a 1.67 ERA across 27 innings of work. After the season, he was presented with the Mexican League Pitcher of the Year Award.
There is no denying that Bauer has the talent to pitch in the big leagues. He is currently an unrestricted free agent, able to sign with any team looking to take the chance on him.
He has expressed his desire to return to an MLB mound and is doing everything in his power to make that happen. However, no team has expressed any desire to bring him back.
It will be interesting to see where Bauer ends up this upcoming season. Could we see him back in the big leagues or will it be another year of trying?
