“The worst thing Boone can do is run the same lineup out for game 3” - MLB analyst on Yankees’ strategy down 2-0 in World Series against Dodgers

The New York Yankees now find themselves 2-0 down in the World Series to NL champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Following the defeats, much has been made of some of the key decisions made by skipper Aaron Boone.

The 51-year-old has come under fire for what many thought were 'mistakes' from him while making some of the biggest calls of the series. A lot of fans have gone as far as to suggest that he should be fired from his position.

According to sportscaster James Vincent Michael O'Brien, better known as Jomboy, Boone would be making another mistake if he persisted with the same batting lineup. This is more so as Aaron Judge continues to struggle for any kind of production at the plate.

"The worst thing Boone can do is run the same lineup out in game 3. It would be the biggest criticism that I've ever had of him. You're down 2-0 and you need to show that somethings gotta change, and we gotta do something different, you don't have six months of a season. (If Judge doesn't move) Stanton would have to go five, and that stinks," O'Brien said on Talkin' Yanks.
"That would be a big reflection on Boone and Judge to me, as the leaders, because if they don't do that, he (Aaron Judge) stays there, we get the same results, three more strikeouts. You almost gotta go and say, put G (Giancarlo Stanton) 3," O'Brien added. [0:23]

Yankees down but not out just yet, according to this one interesting stat

Following 6-3 and 4-2 losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in the first two games, the Yankees find themselves in desperate need of a big performance. Though the situation at the moment looks ominous for New York fans, all hope is not yet lost.

According to an interesting stat posted by 'Fox Sports: MLB' on X, the team coming from two down in the last two World Series meetings between these two teams has eventually gone on to win.

The two years this was observed were the 1978 and 1981 World Series. In '78, the Dodgers took a 2-0 lead, and the Yankees came back to win the next four. In 81', it was a reverse of three years ago, as the Dodgers came back to win from 2-0 down to win their fourth World Series title.

With a monumental third game coming up on Monday, Yankees fans will be hoping their side can claw back some ground in the tie and potentially take the first step toward repeating history.
