"Their offensive player development is terrible": Aaron Judge's personal coach Richard Schenck hits out at Yankees for their continued offensive woes

Richard Schenck, the personal hitting coach of Aaron Judge, lashed out at the player developmental program of the New York Yankees for their ongoing slump. Schenck remarked that the Yankees are playing poorly, even though Judge has been performing like an MVP.

Also known as Teacherman, Schenck developed the High Level Pattern Hitting System after an extensive study of Barry Bonds, the all-time MLB home run record holder. In 2016, he started coaching Aaron Judge, who went on to break the American League single-season record six years later.

Schenk made his comments in response to a tweet from YES Network play-by-play announcer Michael Kay during the New York Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds game on Thursday.

"They’ve lost 13 out of 18 while he’s hitting like an MVP The Yankees offensive player development is terrible," Schenck remarked.

The New York Yankees lost 12-4 to get swept at home by the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday in a three-game series as Aaron Judge had a rare hitless outing.

The New York Yankees are 10 games above .500 but have been on a woeful run during the last month. They have gone 5-13 record since June 7, including 2-8 in their last 10 games.

The two superstars, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, are producing most of the runs, but the young brigade hasn't quite delivered from an offensive standpoint.

Shortstop Anthony Volpe enjoyed a hot start to the 2024 season, but he batted just .220 in the month of June without hitting any home runs. As a result, the 23-year-old was dropped from the leadoff position.

Meanwhile, Gleyber Torres is in the final year of his contract but is having a poor season with a .223/.296/.308 slashline and -4 defensive runs saved. The Yankees second baseman is not going to be offered an extension if his slump continues.

Third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera received plenty of playing time earlier on in the season when D.J LaMahieu was sidelined. However, the 25-year-old only managed a .234 batting average in his third major league season and has completely dropped off the pecking order lately.

Therefore, it seems that Richard Schenck is making a fair point, as these young Yankees hitters have not made much progress offensively this year.
